APT/ ITU Pacific Forum 2013

The Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) jointly organized the “Pacific Forum 2013” at the Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi (TATTE) Building, Apia, Samoa, from 22-24 April 2013. The Forum was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Communications & Information Technology (MCIT), Samoa, and the Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association (PITA), supported by the Department of Broadband, Communications, and the Digital Economy (DBCDE), Australian Government, and BlueSky Samoa.

The Forum was organized in conjunction with the 17th PITA Annual General Meeting and Telecommunication Conference & Tradeshow (AGM) which will take place from 22nd to 26th April 2013.

The main objectives of the Forum are:

  • To address key Policy and Regulatory concerns for Pacific;
  • To facilitate measures to accelerate telecom and ICT development (particularly broadband);
  • To discuss international connectivity options for small island states
  • To exchange information and share ideas in a common platform among the Pacific Island countries;
  • To consider best practices and further develop regulatory frameworks for Pacific Island countries;
  • Outcomes of the WTSA and WCIT meetings of ITU;
  • Business dialogue with telecom operators and key industries players.
