The Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) organized the 5th APT Workshop on Disaster Management/Communications (WDMC-5) from 24 to 26 June 2014 in Tokyo, Japan. The Workshop was hosted by Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), Government of Japan.

The theme of the Workshop is “Network Resiliency against Disaster” and the objective is to bring together stakeholders responsible for emergency communications and warning systems in the Asia-Pacific region to discuss the network resiliency against disaster and the availability and use of such communications and systems for public protection and disaster relief. The workshop seeks to identify any gaps in current emergency communications and consider how these gaps can be addressed. The workshop will also share practical experiences gained in response to a number of recent disasters in the region.
