Speech and Natural Language Processing Expert Group (SNLP)
The Expert Group consists of two activities focusing on Speech-to-Speech Translation and Asian Language Resources. While the two activities share some common interest on language communication, there are basic differences in focus of discussion and in approach to the standardization process.

- To survey and discuss the corpora (linguistically-tagged speech data and bilingual text) for speech-to-speech translation.
- To make contributions to international, and regional standardization activities.
ALR (Asian Language Resources)
- To increase number of Natural Language Processing (NLP) experts in the region.
- To publish recommendation and documentation for standardization to international and regional standardization activities.
- To produce annotated multi-lingual corpora focusing on the languages used in the region.
- To produce annotated multi-lingual technical terms, dictionaries and ontology focusing on the languages used in the region.
- To construct sample applications and language services developed based on the recommendations, and the evaluation results
