Q. What is an e-mail reflector or e-mail exploder?
A.. An e-mail reflector is a program that automatically forwards or broadcasts the e-mail messages in real time to the e-mail addresses registered on an e-mail server distribution list. At present, the APT Secretariat maintains, operates and updates e-mail reflectors with domain name (aptsec.org) for APT Expert Groups.

Q. What is the purpose of an e-mail reflector?
A. An e-mail reflector can be used to exchange information or discuss topics of interest to members of APT Expert Groups.

Q. Who can join an APT e-mail reflector?
A. An individual or an expert from APT member administrations and organizations can join an APT e-mail reflector. The expert must have his/ her own e-mail address.

Q. Who can send an e-mail to those e-mail reflectors?
A. Only APT Secretariat staff, office bearers and registered members of APT Expert Groups can send e-mails to APT e-mail reflectors.

Q. Will I get more spam mail by joining the APT e-mail reflector?
A. Reflector group member will not receive any email from un-registered sender. The APT Secretariat mail system also has spam filtering software that blocks 90% of malicious code, spam, and unwanted content at the network messaging gateway.

Q. How can view e-mails sent to APT e-mail reflectors?
A. E-mails sent to APT e-mail reflectors are posted in the related Expert Group mail archive site. To view these emails a user log-in access is required.

Q. How can I get a log-in account to access information and emails on APT email reflectors which are restricted to APT Expert Group members ?
A. The APT Secretariat provides log-in access to all office bearers and registered experts. To request a log-in account, please send an e-mail to astap@aptsec.org .

Q. How can I access the list of members of APT Expert Groups on the e-mail reflector?
A. A list of e-mail reflector members is posted in individual expert group or working group website and can be accessed through a user log-in access.

Q. How can I remove myself from an APT Expert Group listing and reflector?
A. Please send an e-mail to astap@aptsec.org .
