APT- NAv6 Center Joint Workshop on IPv6
27 February – 1 March 2006, Langkawi, Malaysia

The APT-NAv6 Center Joint Workshop on IPv6, was held in Berjaya Langkawi Beach and Spa Resort, Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia from 27 February to 1 March 2006.

The workshop was organized by APT jointly with NAv6 Center of the Malaysian Science University (USM) in Penang with the collaboration of the Ministry of Energy, Water, and Communication (MEWC), Malaysia to assist APT Members and encouraging exchange of ideas between APT countries with regards to the deployment of IPv6. The  benefits of participants from the workshop are as follows:

  • To familiarize themselves with the specifications and implementation details of IPv6;
  • To assist in the management of the transition process from IPv4 to IPv6 services to end user;
  • To stimulate the participants to be a catalyst in the advancement of IPv6 in their respected countries towards next-generation technology evolution; and
  • To share information on the development and deployment of IPv6 to other countries and regions.

The workshop was technical in nature and would have hands-on work and thus participants were expected to have basic understanding of ICT and IPv6, to work for an organization where IPv6 is expected to be implemented or an ISP/IASP/TELCO which will provide IPv6 services.
