APT REGIONAL FORUM FOR ICT EXPERTS IN SOUTH-EAST ASIA:

Meeting the Challenges on Digital Gaps Approaching e-Government
4-5 February 2004, Jakarta Indonesia 

 

 The Forum’s Objectives

  ·         To review the progress of ICT development in participants’ countries, and to review its impact to economy and society

·         To strengthen Government support to ICT activities and promote the use of ICT in every sector

·         To exchange information on issues and constraints each country faces in order to enhance ICT capability

·         To promote collaboration between Government and ICT experts from non-government sector in order to speed up measures to fill the digital gap due to infrastructure and services, information access, fast technological development and possible isolation from ICT opportunity due to other handicapped conditions.

·         To encourage approaches for e-Government and deployment of the Broadband

 Organization/Hosting/Target Audience

 The forum has been organized by the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) in collaboration with host organizations of Ministry of Communication and Information (KOMINFO), Ministry of Transport and communication (DGPT), and Ministry of Research and Technology (RISTEK) of Indonesia.  The audience who participated were ICT experts from the Government and Non-government sectors and the international and regional organizations working with ICT programs in the region.

 The event was supported under the Extra Budgetary Contribution of Japan (EBC-J) and conducted under the HRD Programme of the APT.
