APT Policy and Regulation Forum

INTRODUCTION

The Asia Pacific Telecommunity (APT) initiated the Policy and Regulatory Forum in May, 2001. Due to the enormous challenges taking place in the telecommunication policy and increased number of independent regulators all over the world it is very essential that the members of the APT are given an opportunity to share their experiences in order to have a harmonized regulatory environment.

OBJECTIVES

Bring the regulators from the region together to a common platform where they will express opinions on issues faced by them as a result of the unprecedented changes taking place in the communication, broadcasting and information sectors.
Share information and experience by the policy makers and regulators so that member countries will benefit from each other's experience.
Prepare input documents to the international for a on issues related to the policy and regulation emerging from the Asia Pacific region.
Prepare opinion documents and consultation papers for the benefit of members.
Coordination of regional views.
Provide consultative support on one to one basis when required.
