Forum on IPTV Standards
9 - 10 February 2010, Singapore

The Forum on IPTV Standards to be held in Singapore from 8 to 10 February 2010 is a great opportunity for engineers of telecommunications administrations and companies in Asia Pacific to share information relevant to IPTV standards and related activities in the field of standardization of IPTV.

Participants will discuss various topics including standardization activities in APT member countries, overview of latest trends in IPTV in the countries with IPTV service. There will also be a group discussion with moderators and speakers from private companies and interesting exhibitions at the event.

The Forum is organized by the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore with the support of APT through the extra budgetary contribution from the Government of Japan.

The 3rd Meeting of the APT Conference Preparatory Group for WRC-2012 (APG2012-3)
8– 12 March 2010, Bangkok, Thailand

The 3rd Meeting of the APT Conference Preparatory Group for WRC-2012 (APG2012-3) will be held from 8 to 12 March 2010 at Plaza Athenee Bangkok, A Royal Meridien Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

The APT Conference Preparatory Group for WRC (APG) has played a key role in harmonizing the views of APT members and developing common proposals from the Asia-Pacific region for submission to the ITU World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC). The next WRC (WRC-12) will be held in Geneva, Switzerland from 23 January to 17 February 2012.

The APT Conference Preparatory Group for WRC-2012 is developing APT Common Views and Proposals for WRC-2012 Agenda Items. This 3rd meeting will review ITU-R studies related to WRC-12 Agenda Items and develop APT Preliminary Views on those Agenda Items.

All APT members, international/regional organizations as well as interested parties are requested to send the Attendance Form no later than 12 February 2010.

Third APT Preparatory Meeting for the World Telecom Development Conference (WTDC-10)
16 - 19 March 2010, Bangkok, Thailand

Third APT Preparatory Meeting for the World Telecom Development Conference (WTDC-10) will be held at Amari Watergate Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand from 16 to 19 March 2010.

The APT Preparatory Meetings for WTDC are designed to consolidate the regional view on issues and prepare common input from the Asia Pacific region to the WTDC. The Second Preparatory Meeting for WTDC-10 held in December last year discussed many issues pertinent to the region and agreed on 14 topics along with lead countries to draft Preliminary Common Proposals (PACPs). These will be discussed at the Third Preparatory Meeting for WTDC-10 for consideration as Common Proposals from the APT Member countries to the WTDC-10. The deadline of registration is 16 February 2010.

The 8th Meeting of the APT Wireless Forum (AWF-8) and Workshop on "Next Generation Mobile Communication'
29 March – 1 April 2010, Tokyo, Japan

The 8th Meeting of the APT Wireless Forum will be held from 29 March to 1 April 2010 in Tokyo, Japan. The meeting is hosted by Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication, Japan. A workshop on ‘Next General Mobile Communication’ will be organized on 29 March 2010 at 13.30 hrs. as part of the AWF-8 meeting. 

The APT Wireless Forum (AWF) is working on the issues on emerging wireless technologies. At its 8th meeting, the AWF will report and present its activities and progress of works up to the date. The deadline of registration is 12 March 2010.

Farewell to Mr. Woo Hyuk Choi, Radiocommunications Officer

Mr. Woo Hyuk Choi joined the APT as Programme Officer (Radiocommunications) on 21 December 2007 and served APT for two years. He contributed to the success of the Radiocommuncitions Programme of the APT. We wish Mr. Choi great success in his new assignment with the Korea Communications Commission (KCC) in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

Welcome New Radiocommunications Officer

Mr. Won Seok Heo has joined the APT Secretariat on 21 December 2009 as Radiocommunications Officer. Mr. Heo has been working in the field of communication and ICT policies for over 15 years. Before joining the APT, he was the Director of the Radio Infrastructure Team and Director of the Seoul Regional Radio Monitoring Office in Korean Communications Commission (KCC) of the Republic of Korea. During his office in KCC, Mr. Heo had experiences in planning and project management in the field of ICT industry, Communications, Radio Management, Informatization, etc.
