APT-PITA ICT WORKSHOP FOR THE PACIFIC ISLANDS
The Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) organized a Workshop on Information Communication Technologies (ICT) for the Pacific Islands in collaboration with the Pacific Island Telecommunications Association (PITA) in Nadi, Fiji from 25 to 27 August 2004. The workshop was hosted by PITA with the support of the Extra Budgetary Contribution from Australia (EBC-A).
The meeting brought the
benefits of ICTs to the Pacific Island member countries and develop their ICT
skills. The Meeting will also provide opportunity among the Pacific Island
nations and small islands developing states the assistance needed in developing
their national ICT policies and strategies, improving the connectivity,
developing the skills and practical approaches in bringing the applications of
ICT for the common benefit of information society. It also provided the
participants opportunity to share knowledge and skills among ICT in the Pacific
and its neighboring region.
