ASIA PACIFIC FORUM ON TELECOMMUNICATION POLICY AND REGULATION

The Asia Pacific Forum on Telecommunication Policy and Regulation was organized from May 17 to 20, 2004 in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam. 

 

The Forum addressed key regulatory and policy issues of interest and concern to the Asia Pacific region.  As recommended by the Policy and Regulation Forum in 2003, APT members should develop policies and programs for broadband deployment and revisit their regulatory situation with respect to the introduction and delivery of broadband services.  Particular attention should be paid to the issues of interconnection, licensing, cross-sectoral matters, Broadband and USO.  The theme of this year's Forum is "Universal Service through Broadband'. The Forum will be attended by top policy makers, Heads of Regulatory Authorities and other eminent experts. It is an excellent opportunity to exchange views on matters of common interest and networking among APT members.

  • Private Sector Initiatives on Broadband Development
  • Broadband Development in Asia Pacific Region
  • Discussion of the Information Documents prepared by the members: Interconnection, Merger & Acquisitions, Broadband Development, ENUM, DNS, Emerging Regulatory Issues, Migration to a Convergence Licensing Framework and Spam prepared as decided of the 2003 Forum.
  • Presentation of the APT Project report on the Doha Development Round and other key issues.
