The Symposium on Access & USO was held from 18 to 20 February 2004 in Hanoi, Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The Symposium was hosted by the Ministry of Post and Telematics (MPT), Vietnam. The objectives of the Symposium on Access & USO are:
This Symposium provided an opportunity to share experiences and analyse the pros and cons of various strategies and mechanisms adopted by different countries. It provided an opportunity to look for cost effective technologies. It also discuss the concept, modalities and the procedures for setting up a USO Fund and administrative procedures to achieve its goal. This Symposium was recommended by the APT Forum on Telecommunications Policy and Regulation.
