The Tenth APT Standardization Program Forum (ASTAP-10)
The Tenth APT Standardization Program Forum was held from 26 to 28 October 2005 at Rydges Melbourne, Australia. The Workshop on IP Telephony and Next Generation Networks was held prior to the 10th ASTAP Forum on 25 October 2005. The Meetings were organized by the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity and hosted by Australian Communications and Media Authority and supported by the Extra Budgetary Contribution from Australia.
The main objective of the Tenth APT Standardization Program Forum is to review progress of the ASTAP Expert Groups since the 9th ASTAP Forum held in Thailand; explore regional initiatives in accessibility and usability planning; develop communications standardization input to the APT regional preparatory process for the ITU Plenipotentiary Conference 2006; consider initiatives proposed in the IP Telephony and NGN Workshop. The objective of the Workshop on IP Telephony and Next Generation Networks is to share regional and international experience on the current services offered, consider how NGN will evolve from PSTN and IP Telephony networks, and gain an overview of NGN standards being developed by ETSI and the ITU-T.
