APT/ PITA/ CTO Workshop on Disaster Communication and Network Development for Pacific
The Workshop on Disaster Communication and Network Development (DCND) was held in Nadi, Fiji from 4 to 6 June 2007. The workshop was organized by the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) and the Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association (PITA) and supported by the Extra Budgetary Contribution from Japan.
The objective of the workshop was to provide a platform for all stakeholders to discuss advance disaster communication and network development for Pacific and to share practical experiences in the occasion of the recent disaster in the region.
The workshop discussed the topics which include among others Supports to the Affected Countries in the region, Disaster Communications in Recently Affected Countries, Current Situation of Disaster Preparedness in each Pacific Country, Regulatory Framework and Management for Ensuring the Disaster Communication, Rules of Telecom Operators and Broadcasters in Disaster Communication and International Organization Activities related to Disaster Communication. It will be attended by Experts on Disaster Management, Communication Network Developers, Government Regulators representatives and Telecom operators in the region.
