‘APT workshop on Spectrum Management and Monitoring’ and the 6th Meeting of the APT Wireless Forum (AWF-6) was held from 30 March - 03 April 2009 in Danang, Vietnam. The events are organized by the Asia Pacific Telecommunity and hosted by the Ministry of Information and Communication, Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The workshop on Spectrum Management and Monitoring is supported by Extra-Budgetary Contribution from Republic of Korea.

The APT Wireless Forum (AWF) is working on the issues on conventional and emerging wireless technologies. In its’ 6th meeting, the AWF will report and present its activities and progress in works up to the date. Provisional agenda of the meeting is attached hereto.

The workshop will discuss a number of important issues related to the spectrum management, planning and monitoring.  These include but not limited to issues such as:

    • What are the economic and technical objectives of spectrum management?
    • Traditional approaches and recent innovation to spectrum management
    • The impact of spectrum management reform
    • Best practices in managing and facilitating access to spectrum
    • Regulating spectrum trading and refarming at national level
    • Extent of spectrum harmonization in APT’s perspective
    • Spectrum monitoring and compliance, monitoring data collection and technologies

All APT Members, Associate Members, Affiliate Members and International/Regional Organizations can attend the meetings by completing the Attendance Form. Please send your nominations by filling the attendance forms to APT Secretariat by fax: +66 2 573 7479, +66 2 574 4226 or by email: aptawf@apt.int on or before 10 March 2009. Non-Members can attend the meetings with “Observer” status by paying Registration Fee of US$250 per person. Due to peak tourist season of Danang during the meeting period, you are kindly requested to send your Attendance Form for finalizing the hotel reservation and other necessary arrangement to APT Secretariat with a copy to Local Secretariat-RFD by 10 March 2009. APT Secretariat may not be able to guarantee hotel reservation after the closing date.

Due to the limited accommodation availability of the Furama Hotel, the booking for the Furama Hotel will be handled in a first come first serve basis. Additional bookings will be transferred automatically to the Green Plaza Hotel. Reservation confirmation notices will be sent to participants in advance.

Contributions from Member Administrations, Associate Member, Affiliate Members and International/Regional Organizations on agenda items are essential for the success of the meeting and workshop. Contributions should be submitted in electronic form preferably by email to APT Secretariat ( parvez@apt.int ) for proper documentation. Contributions should be prepared on the proper templates provided by APT Secretariat and in Microsoft Word and/or PowerPoint, English Version. Please check the contribution guidelines in the attached Participant Information. Closing date for sending your input contributions is on 26th March 2009.
