Telecommunications ICT Policy and Regulation Meeting for Pacific
The Telecommunications ICT Policy and Regulation Meeting for Pacific was held from 29 April to 1 May 2009 at Sofitel Denarau Hotel in Nadi, Fiji Islands. This meeting was held in conjunction with the PITA AGM thus providing the greatest interaction between operators and regulators.
The main objectives of the meeting are:
- To facilitate the progress of the decisions taken at the Auckland meeting and the ITU Pacific ICT Ministerial Forum held in February 2009;
- To adopt measures to accelerate telecom and ICT infrastructure development and promote e-applications;
- To exchange information and share ideas in a common platform among the Pacific Islands Countries;
- To address key Policy and Regulatory concerns for Pacific;
- To consider the implementation of a Pacific ICT Resource Centre;
- To consider best practices and further develop regulatory frameworks for Pacific Islands Countries.
